Well, had my first meeting with some fab New People as part of the new Asylum group.
Checking out venues for where to host this proper Goth night, we met up down The Marquee.
Home of the Ammonia Aroma. The foul swamp of sewage. The pathway of poo. The...
Well, it's not such a shithole anymore!
A revamp of the bogs and the decoration has transformed into... well, a loss of all character. It's stark plain light walls more reminiscent of a wine bar than an alternative venue.
And as for the music - oh lor - the music! If it could pass for that. Gone is the alternative background music, in favour of Ye Jukebox of Doom. Filled with terrible, terrible blippy bloppy hippety hoppity dancey trancy ravey gravy toot!
So we stuck loads of alternative stuff on1.
And the other thing is that during the revamp, they seem to have lost the volume knob for the jukebox, as you can hear fuck all about what anyone is shouting. 'tis not a decibel acceptable venue for social intercourse.
Anyhoo, we went to have a look at the Back Room. The music room where bands will play, and perhaps where Asylum wil hold it's clubnight.
Venture thru the door into the Hall That Laughs In The Face Of Health & Safety, to be faced by The Door. The portal to partay. the door...
...that lacks for a doorknob.
It would appear that ingress is denyed those who do not venture into yon tavern equipped with a toolset suitable for an evening's quaffage. To whit, coin of the realm, a drinking arm, and a screwdriver to open unopenable doors.
Yes, the manager asked us if we had a screwdriver about our person, as he was unable to open the doot as the doorknob had either been stolen or rusted off.
So, as patrons of the pub, our failure to realised that management would lack the expected tools to be able to provide porticoral passage, left us bereft of alternative assignation assessment.
Next time I'm out, I'm taking the full Phillips and Crosshead out with me! Oh, wait - is Phillips the crosshead or the flathead? Fuck it - I'll just buy a full rachet set and accompanying range of hardware with me.
But not the M.A.R.K.13 though.
1 AND, BEING A PUB JUKEBOX, OUR TRACKS DIDN'T COME ON UNTIL WE'RE ABOUT TO LEAVE ABOUT 11ISH!
